Sunset Valley is an environmentally sensitive community. The majority of the City is located over the Edwards Aquifer Recharge Zone and the City tries to protect this resource through its activities and regulations. The Public Works and Environmental Services Department provides a variety of different programs and services. Our city has been recognized with several Tree City, USA awards. We have the largest White Shin Oaks in the nation. We pride ourselves with many tree and forestry programs as well as services to preserve and maintain Sunset Valley's rich landscape. In order to protect and maintain the City's rich urban forest, the City offers a variety of programs to help residents with the trees in their yard and to plant trees across the City.
Sunset Valley is fortunate to have over 250 acres of greenspaces and conservation areas. These areas are home to wildlife and beautiful woodlands. Over seven miles of trails can also be found in the City
