The City of Sunset Valley is considering a number of Park and Trail Improvement Projects to be completed over the next five-year Capital Improvement Plan.  These projects are focused on a few of the activity hubs within the City.

Valley Creek Park Proposed Improvements

  • Water Fountain
  • Replace playground equipment with new equipment that fits within the existing fall zones.  The existing equipment is very old and is difficult to repair.
  • Fencing along the western edge of park.  This would open up another part of the City-owned property for access.
  • Revegetation and Riparian Plantings to improve water infiltration and biodiversity as well as  reduce erosion.
  • New Valley Creek Park Sign.

Savanna Trail Proposed Improvements

  • Electrical Service for future events.  This year the City hosted the Jingle Bell Trail at this location.  Future events would be better facilitated with easy access to electrical service.
  • Fencing along Ernest Robles Way.  This proposal will improve safety and help define the area.
  • Revegetation and Riparian Restoration to improve water infiltration and biodiversity as well as reduce erosion.
  • Experiential/Interactive Art- These are artistic features that also have a "play" feature. As seen in the image below, a snail that is also a climbing structure.

  • Brooklyn Bridge Park - Pier 5 Playground

 City Hall Backyard

  • Completed in 2025, the City Hall Backyard has become a popular spot for families.  One of the things reported missing, is swings and slides.  The proposal is to add swings and slides to the area.
