The Savanna Trail at Upper Cougar Creek is the culmination of several years of plans to create a central park area within the shopping district.  Once constructed, the area will have a trail that meanders through the fields and across the creek.  Seating areas and other amenities will be provided throughout the area.  Eventually, a second phase of this project will include play areas and a gathering (picnic) area.  Phase one was complete in fall of 2025.

The Sunset Valley Savanna Trail at Upper Cougar Creek is a transformative project designed to create an accessible pathway connecting the Sunset Valley Homestead Shopping Center and Ernest Robles Way. This trail will feature seating, nature play areas, environmental art, and riparian restoration, forming a beautiful and functional space for the community. As Phase 1 of a larger multi-phase initiative, it represents the first step toward a vibrant park in the heart of Sunset Valley.

Construction on the Savanna Trail is complete, and the trail is now open for the community to enjoy.
