🌱 Protect Plants from Browsing Pressure – Join the Grow Zone Team for a Planting Event! 🌼
Saturday, June 14 | 9:30–11:00 AM
Location: 37 Lone Oak Trail
Get your hands in the dirt and help restore native habitat in Sunset Valley! The City invites you to a special Planting Event where you’ll help plant native grasses, wildflowers, and other important species inside our new Grow Zone Test Plot—a fenced area designed to protect young plants from hungry deer.
This is more than just a planting party—it’s a chance to learn about local ecology, native plants, and experimental restoration efforts happening right here in your community. Whether you're a plant enthusiast, a habitat hero, or just looking for a fun and meaningful way to spend your Saturday morning, we’d love to have you join us.
Event Schedule:
🌿 9:30–11:00 AM – Planting & learning session
Why It Matters:
White-tailed deer are beautiful—but they can also over-browse native seedlings, making it hard for our ecosystems to thrive. This project explores how we can grow native plants in protected conditions and eventually expand their presence throughout Sunset Valley.
👟 Come dressed for outdoor work (sturdy shoes, hat, bugspray, sunscreen, and water recommended), and bring a friend! Water, snacks, and native plants will be provided!
RSVP not required—just show up ready to dig in and grow something great.
Let’s get planting!
